Honda Recalls Over 200,000 SUVs Due to Fuel Leak Risk
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Honda has recalled 205,760 SUVs in the United States due to a potential fuel leak hazard. The problem is associated with separating the fuel filler neck tube and the fuel filler pipe, which can lead to fuel leakage. The NHTSA said that an ignition source increases the risk of fire.
The recall affects the 2023-24 Honda Passport and 2023-25 Honda Pilot models. To address the issue, Honda dealers will inspect and repair the fuel filler neck and pipe as needed, at no cost to the owners.
Affected vehicle owners can expect to receive notification letters starting January 6, 2025. For further details, they can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138, referencing recall number OKM. Alternatively, they can reach out to the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
GM Recalls Over 132,000 Trucks Over Tailgate Malfunction
General Motors (GM) also issued a critical recall this week for 132,000 Chevrolet and GMC trucks equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. According to NHTSA, the problem stems from the tailgate’s electronic gate-release switch, which can short-circuit due to water ingress. This defect can cause the tailgate to open inadvertently when the vehicle is parked, posing a safety concern.
As part of the recall, GM will replace the affected exterior touchpad switch assemblies free of charge. Owners of the impacted vehicles can expect notification letters to be mailed starting January 13, 2025.
For more information, Chevrolet owners can contact customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC owners can reach out at 1-800-462-8782.
